Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

I grew up in Warwickshire, England, and still live there with my three kids, who are 8,4, and 4 months. I started writing my first book in 2019, which I then went on to publish in August 2021. The second book in the series will be coming out in August 2023, called A Storm In The Wind.

What inspired you to author this book?

I’ve always wanted to be a writer and have loved books since I was young. Originally, I thought journalism would be fun, but after becoming obsessed with reading in 2015 and starting a bookstagram account under the name @bookablemoments. Eventually, I decided it was time to write my own book and channeled all the struggles I was going through in my life at the time into the book.

Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?

I worked with an amazing artist named Thea Magerand, who was able to take what I wanted and turn it into exactly what I wanted. She really captured the main female character Raven. I’m really looking forward to working with her on my future books.

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?

My dad was always a big influence for me. He used to make up stories for me when I was younger, and I think that’s where my inspiration to write really came from. I’ve read many fantastic books over the years by authors like Sarah J. Maas and Taylor Jenkins Reid that I absolutely love.

What were the struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

Motivation was a big thing. It’s something I’ve always struggled with, and overcoming that and reminding myself of my goals was something I constantly had to do.

Tell your readers about your book.

A Flame In The Throne is the first installment of my YA fantasy series. It is about the conflicts between a young king who has shut the humans off from the rest of the world to keep them away from the Elves, Faeries, Dwarves, Shifters, and Witches that he believes are evil. His brother Idris will do anything to stop his evil ways, including distributing illegal potions into the streets to help the public. At the center of their conflict is Raven.

Who is your target audience, and why?

My book is targeted at ages 8-18. Still, as a lover of Young Adult, I believe it is a series everyone who loves fantasy will enjoy.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?

Proving myself that I can do anything I set my mind to.

What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?

I treat all my characters like they are real people. I’m currently diving into writing the third book in the series. The other day, I read back through a couple of chapters from A Flame In The Throne and thought, "Aw, my babies have come so far.”
