I woke up extremely early this morning after a restful night's sleep. The thing I found strange was that I don't remember having a dream. Not dreaming is odd for me as my dreams are usually very vivid and in full color. In fact, my novels THE KEYSTROKE KILLER and A.D.A.M. THE BEGINNING OF LIFE came from my dreams. Nothing changed in my life other than being totally exhausted having prepared Thanksgiving Dinner for 16 people, and cleaning the house before and after the party. So, if that's my recipe for sleeping, I won't be not having dreams until Christmas night.
I'm not really worried about not dreaming, I just miss them when they are not there. I think as an author we have vivid imaginations, which dreams are a part of that. So, when we come up with creative ideas, we can't wait to write them down and develop our book. My next author, Karen Dowers, I believe is one of those authors as she as not only written one book, but I present you three of her books. I hope you enjoy learning about Karen and her books as one or more are likely to be fantastic Christmas presents for someone.

where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them
get to know the personal you.
I was born in Detroit, Michigan but moved to San Diego, and grew
up there. After graduating from High School, I did the following:
(a) I attended college.
(b) joined the workforce
(c) made lots of new friends
(d) gained experience in interacting and dealing with people in the business
world
Finally, I decided I would enjoy learning how to treat and take care of the
largest organ on human beings--the skin! And this revelation led me to trade
school to learn how to be an Esthetician. I specialized in pre/post-operative
skincare for laser and cosmetic surgery patients; and teen/ and adult acne
corrective skincare; anti-aging treatments doing skin peels; using advanced
technology machines and treatment products. I received many hours of
certifications learning various treatment modalities over the years. During the
process, I researched and developed my custom-blend skincare products. I opened
several clinics in San Diego before we (hubby and me) decided we wanted to move
to the Colorado Rockies. Once we made a move, I opened a day-spa in Durango,
CO. I worked with a plastic surgeon and did a lot of networking to expand the
business.
Some years went by, and because of health issues with my parents, I decided to
retire earlier than I desired. After my parents passed away, that is when I
decided to write stories that I stored away in my memory bank for years. And,
it's been a real learning curve, but It gives me a sense of purpose knowing
that I'm able to send relevant messages out to kids (and older people, too)
through the words that I write. I discuss Universal Laws, such as the Law of
Attraction in my stories. I show, more than tell, that we, humans, are capable
of doing and being anything we choose by setting sharp, positive intentions in
motion with a powerful focus. Then, I demonstrate how to relax and watch good
things happen! Another reason I love to write is that I'm able to create a
world that I desire to live in where animals talk, and a whole lot of magic
goes on everywhere!
What inspired you to author this book?

(Second Book) Fart Boomer's Let 'Em Rip Butt Blaster Gang! In the Tale of . . .
The Fart Bomb That Saves a World! Come on now! At least you can see I still
have a crazy imagination at my age! And what might that age be? I will tell you
that it is 'ageless and timeless,' and let's leave it at that! And, as long as
I keep that imagination at full speed, I will be alive and well. Seriously, I
created this book from a dare, and I won't go into detail about how that
subject came up, but I can tell you it wasn't a youngster who started it!
Seriously, I'm beyond worrying about what people might think about this subject
matter. I get a kick out of people that react with shock. It makes me giggle.
And, I'm happy with how the artwork I did for this book came out awesome! I did
have some help because of a situation that happened, but all the main
characters I created.
(Third Book) Cat-itude. I went off the main trail with this book, too. Why
cats? I LOVE cats and have three of my own. I have no human kids, so these
furry creatures have become my replacement. This book is a tribute to my three
furry children. Cat-lovers like myself will love and relate to the photos of
cats in this book with quotes to each picture of what the cat would say in that
particular predicament.
Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?
1) Netherworld
Rescue. The idea came from a magical warrior helmet I created. The drawing came
out really super but the guy that does my book covers said the resolution
needed to be clearer. But he thought it was a good idea to use the helmet as a
focal point and he did.
2) The second book cover for F. Boomer and gang---I thought by having the gang
on the front cover with a picture of a 'butt blast cloud' and an explosion
going off at the bottom of the cloud, the gang sitting listening to a story by
the genius storyteller, Fart Boomer, was revealing about what the story is
about.
3) Cat-itude is a tribute to my three furry babies. As a 'cat mom' for many
years, I love sharing my adoration with people that feel the same way about
their kitties as I do. Ha! And, I'm sure these people can relate to the many
Kodak moments my felines have given me, but Mom had no camera in hand! These
cat owners will be familiar with some of those' looks' and predicaments
captured in the photos of Cat-itude and the quotes that go with them.
Here is how this book came about. Fortunately, one day, one of my kitties,
Daisy May, was seeking trouble and gave me one of her 'looks' that inspired me
to create this book. You'll see a quick sketch (Karen's Cat Drawing) I attached
below to capture the moment. also included the front cover of the book and a
cat photo in the book.
Who has been the most significant influence on
you personally and as a writer?
What I say may sound strange but I live on forty acres in the
forest (in Colorado.) I am surrounded by Nature. Every day, wild animals come
to visit. They could be any of the following: wild turkeys, bears, elk, deer,
mountain lions, bobcats, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, eagles, and more.
Connecting to nature is so inspiring and keeps my crazy imagination in high
gear! Plus, it is so quiet where I live that I can hear an eagle's wings
flapping as it flies by (that is a real story!). The noise and lights in a big
city are gone! I see beautiful creatures every day, and they don't have their
eyes glued to mobile devices, lol! Life is in a slower lane, here. The sky is
filled with stars that you can actually see, and I can't tell you how many
times I've sat down to watch these stars and could hear my thoughts with ideas
buzzing through my head, lol! (See the attached picture I took of my cat nose
to nose with a deer.
What were your struggles or obstacles you had
to overcome to get this book written?
I'm going to be very honest. Writing is not a struggle for me. Where
I find obstacles and struggle are having to juggle between writing and
promoting the books once they are ready to be published. It has been a real
learning curve and my hat is off to all the authors out there who so adeptly
accomplish this feat.

I target teens/young adults but younger children like
Arabella's shenanigans, too. I feel any of these age groups are great to start
demonstrating the Law of Attraction at work.
What do you consider your greatest success in
life?
My greatest success in life was meeting and marrying my husband,
Doug. I really hit the jackpot with him. Seriously, a good man is like finding
a lucky charm. And, the list for great things about my husband, Doug exceeds
the required word-count, here. LOL! This man means so much to me in so many
ways, I don't know even know where to begin. All I can tell you is I would be
lost without him. He is a wonderful man.
What one unique thing sets you apart from other
writers in your genre?
I'm not so sure I can be set apart from other authors because I
don't know what makes these authors unique. However, I feel something unique
about me is I have a colorful imagination that helps me to relate to children
on their level. And this wild and crazy imagination of mine keeps going on and
on, much like the Energizer Bunny™ Battery. Plus, like this particular battery,
I have lots of energy, too! LOL!
