DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
It has been a little over three months since my mother passed and I miss her greatly. The one thing I am happy about is the fact she didn't have to live through this pandemic. She would have worried herself sick over her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Staying at home for her wouldn't have been a problem. She did that anyway having a compromised immune system from the cancer. I am truly blessed that I considered my mother my best friend. She led by example, and was full of wisdom. Not everyone is that fortunate to have lived a life with a loving mother and today's book "Reflection 4 Rejection: Surviving a Mother's Abandonment and Abuse," by Traci Thomas is as real as it gets. I applaud Traci for reaching deep within her soul to share her story to help others.

Okay all you science fiction lovers; do I have a great collection for you. Today's book of the day is, "Dystopian Spacetime: 5 Science Fiction Tales of Humanity on the Brink," by JD Brooks.
Sometimes the smallest things can have the biggest impacts. Dystopian Spacetime presents 5 hand-selected tales of the fantastic. Take a trip to the 1980s and see how humanity’s place in the universe was really determined in ‘Earth Year 1982.’ Did humanity doom itself without even knowing it long before you were born? ‘In Space, All Bets Are Off’ will give you some insight. Ever wondered what you’d really do if you could kill Hitler? The mysterious stranger presents this in ‘Incident at Phil’s Arcade.’ What if we could change some small detail about the past with a new, powerful device? And what if the wrong person possessed it? ‘Winds of Change’ will make you think before you place your next football bet. Finally, how do we persevere in a world now alien to us? ‘The Final 7th Inning Stretch’ shows us hope through the eyes of a young boy on the verge of manhood in a dystopian world. Special Note: There are no viruses, contagions, or plagues in any of these 5 stories. Humanity has had enough of that in the real world for the time being. (About 33k words).
JD Brooks is a science fiction writer who lives with his family on a farm in Colorado. When not writing, he's coaching little league, and conducting cybersecurity risk assessments for small businesses. An Air Force veteran, JD now also handles critical risk analyses for the US Space Force's weapons systems. He's also an adjunct professor of Cybersecurity at Regis University (Denver, Colorado).
We all need a little inspiration in our lives and that is what today's book does. "See Make it Your Own," by Mia Giovio is designed to help inspire as well as allows the reader to become introspective.
Having a positive outlook is a well-intentioned goal. Having a positive outlook is an obviously healthier alternative to having a negative perspective on life. We must understand, however, that “positivity” in and of itself cannot overcome or overturn some of the negativity that is generated outside of ourselves by individuals or by social constructs/values. We must learn how to navigate through a world in which our positivity may have little bearing on the negative attitudes and outlooks of individuals or the harshness and injustices of our society without allowing that reality to dampen our spirits. We must understand that, despite our desire to project a positive outlook and to interact and share that energy with others, many will not be accepting of or responsive to it. We must be careful not to feel thwarted by the unreceptiveness of others and to understand that we may only be able to counteract some of society’s ills in small, practical ways and to accept/understand that there will always be plenty of “ills” to contend with. We must not let these realities diminish our spirit and drive. The purpose of this book is to help the reader accept these realities and to maintain a positive focus despite them and to not overlook the benefit to others and to society that we can provide without “changing the world.”

Coming
from Russia, I nevertheless always knew that I did not belong to this country.
Moreover, I do not belong to any other. Even my friends always called me a "Woman
of the world." It always seemed to me that in Russia, I was not in the
right place, much more in the wrong place I was in the doctor's office. Many
did not understand me when I stopped working in the prestigious dental
profession. And though sometimes it's difficult not to care about other people's
opinions, I knew that my life and my moral well-being are much more important.
So I followed my passion and became a creative photographer. Gradually I began
to write short stories for my photoshoots. Until one day I discovered a new
star world in my head and from that day I worked to show it to other people.
What inspired you to author this book?
Probably the best inspiration was all those wonderful
books that I've read. They made me who I am now, eventually allowing me to
discover a new universe that was waiting for the one to find it.
Where did you get the inspiration for your book's
cover?
The book cover is actually both a secret and a hint
in one. It personifies the slogan of our universe. "You are the world that
doesn't exist. Yet." Unfortunately I can't say more so as not to give out
interesting details that readers will want to discover themselves.
Who has been the most significant influence on you
personally and as a writer?
The most important people are my favorite writers:
Den Simmons, Neil Gaiman, Fedor Dostoevsky, Mikhail Sholokhov, and so many
more. I am so grateful to them for one of the best hours of my life that I
spent reading their stories. If ever I can get a little close to their lever of
writing, it will be wonderful.
What were your struggles or obstacles you had to
overcome to get this book written?
It was hard for me to come to terms with the idea
that I was writing a book. I never thought that I would dare to do anything
like that, so every day, finishing typing new lines that seemed to appear by
themselves, I thought that the next day I will not be able to write anything
and that I will wake up and not be able to squeeze a word out of me.
Nevertheless, a new day would come, and the lines would continue to grow .
Probably the other difficult moment was the translation of the book. To my deep
regret, my English is not so good to write a book. I was scared to think about
what the book will turn into after the translation; nevertheless, I decided
that the story was more important than my creative ego. We were fortunate to
find talented translators in Surrey Translation Buro.
The Dawn Of Athir is the first in STAZR The World Of
Z series. It
tells about the adventures of a naive writer on a Star. The book is a
first-person story because it is an old manuscript that who knows how was
brought here to earth. Lael, who lives alone, dreaming of becoming a great
writer, unexpectedly turns out to be the main character of events about which,
despite his book knowledge, he doesn't really have any idea. He will have to
learn how to get out of the really dangerous troubles, to find and lose
friends, in general, to be a real hero - we will find out later whether he will
be good or bad.
Who is your target audience, and why?
I think my readers are those who can devote enough
time to reading. A new STAZR universe, new races, and unfamiliar languages
will take time.
What do you consider your greatest success in life?
Every night raising my eyes to the sky, I know that
somewhere out there, new stories await me, and the new star worlds need to be
opened.
What one unique thing sets you apart from other
writers in your genre?
Many say that my writing style is inherent in a kind
of poetry. I do not know if this is so - the reader should judge this. I think
that the main thing that distinguishes my style from most books is that it is
absolutely not commercial. I did not try to write something specific, I just
wrote down what happened in another universe, in the order in which it
happened.

What
inspired you to author this book?
I
believe everything rises and falls on leadership. I noticed some shortcomings
in leadership traits for my junior leaders and dealing with the Uptempo of our
organization. I could not always catch all of them for Training. So like the
saying goes, “If you got a problem, you better have a solution.” So in Liu of
me retiring wanted to give my two-cents on building the legacy of leaders, I
wanted to give hope to the hopeless. Inspire and empower others to seek their
purpose.
Where
did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?
The
book is about seven qualities, so it shows seven people on the front cover
representing each one. The red one describes you as the “leader,” which is also
the first chapter of the book.
Who
has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?
My
wife and kids have been the most significant, personally. I wanted to show my
kids you can achieve anything you put your mind to. My wife has always
supported me behind anything I’ve strived to do.
What
were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?
Struggles
or Obstacles I had to overcome when writing this book was selecting key topics
and grammar. Choosing a title was difficult. I think I got ahead of myself at
one point. It was all self-published, so those were about the only thing
outside of trying to find the best person to go with to sell the book.
Tell
your readers about your book.
It’s
exactly what it’s titled, its direct, transparent, a quick and easy read. A quick
go-to reference, very relatable while using a spiritual base foundation, which
equals No Excuses why you or any of your students, employees, and
soldiers take the time to read it.
My
target audience is mainly any students, employees, managers, and soldiers
between the ages of sixteen to forty-five. Those inspiring to become a leader
or just need a little boost of motivation to get back on track. Multiple parents
have told me it helps them to be a better mom or dad.
What
do you consider your greatest success in life?
My
greatest success in life WOW there are so many, but if I had to go with the one
I would say God allowing me to be a father. I have four lives that are not
going to learn by what I say but by what I will do. It is a huge obligation and
blessing that I can never take for granted.
What
one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?
The
one unique thing that set me apart from other writers is that I have a lot of
experience I am very passionate about leadership I truly feel it is my purpose
to provide this support and information to everyone. I truly feel If you are a
human being you are a leader, it’s all about just finding our purpose to
fulfill it.
