DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
As we approach our July 4th Independence, the war in Ukraine is still ongoing. This doesn't mean that people aren't reaching out for knowledge. What better way to bring cultures together than through books. I recently introduced to my readers the book, "The Emperor Returns," by Dr. Clifford Waldman. It is a fantastic read. I recently received a message from the author about his increased numbers and visits to his website from Ukraine and other territories. The entire message is below and the author is requesting help from readers for his fourth installment. Take a look.
MESSAGE FROM CLIFFORD WALDMAN
Recently, Dr. Mel shared with her many followers her interview with me--regarding my new Emperor Qin book series: “The Emperor Returns”. I was surprised that traffic to my website and my Amazon.com e-book site increased by 600% every day since then--about a week so far. The site is: Emperorqinreturns.com.
The concentration of most of these more recently responding countries seemed to be near the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Prior to 4 days ago, nobody from Ukraine had visited our website. Since then, we’ve had 250 Ukrainian visitors.
Other recent visitors have come from Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Belarus, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Germany, Switzerland, Republic of Moldova, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Republic of Lithuania, Netherlands, Serbia, and Slovenia.
Other continents not so close to this War have also provided many visitors such as the Americas, the Asian countries, the Middle East, Africa, England, the Mediterranean, India, Australia, and the Philipines.
We wondered if our most interested readers might be those coming from the parts of the world where democracy & empowerment is most valued but most threatened.
Where War against individual freedoms is strongest there seems to be the most interest in reading about the military genius of Emperor Qin, his ancient Terra cotta Warrior Army, and his powerful values of empowerment.
To all citizens of Ukraine--and those of nearby countries--would you like the 4th book of the Emperor Qin series to involve his arrival with his ancient army to defend the rights of Ukrainians & all citizens to pursue life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness?
If the answer is “yes” could you help me with rapidly learning the history, geography, ways, and legends of Ukraine so as to have this book as realistic as we’ve tried to be with China and the USA in the first 3 books. Please let me know at: firstname.lastname@example.org
This first book of the Emperor Qin series describes the riveting moments when he and his ancient Army of 100,000 Terra cotta Warriors awake from their 23-century slumber--when they're resurrected. It leads us through a labyrinth of rapid-firing developments involving huge military clashes, apparent interventions by God or Nature, enthusiastically embraced by millions around the World--and a volcanically powerful love affair between Emperor Qin Shi Huang and Queen Yang Yu Huan.
Dr. Waldman’s doctoral dissertation was a Jungian-based study of the creative process: the extent to which one faces their unconscious...their undeveloped side.
Since 1981 he’s had a full clinical practice in his NYC West Village office where he’s helped individuals, couples, families, and groups become more creative. He’s taught "The Artists Search for His Soul: a Psychoanalytic Study" for fifteen years at the New School for Social Research. His interest in creative psychic development evolved into one in empowered living.
In 1988 he moved to Jersey City. For the past 30 years, in his J. C. community work, he's taught and empowered thousands of residents to creatively design their community park renovations through communal meetings and democratic votes.
By 1999, he'd led and completed the first great park renovation in J. C. history, based on the input of 551 residents, with Van Vorst Park. In 2004, he founded the Jersey City Parks Coalition--and went on to lead two and support two other major park renovations with this new approach. He’s currently working with residents and the City on the Leonard Gordon Park renovation. This photo was taken by the Jersey Journal as it reported on this renovation.
A visit six years ago to the Terra cotta statues in Xi’An, China triggered this book series--two more unconscious motivations seem to be his wish to empower the world’s people as he has as a clinician and community activist--and as does Qin. He also wants to know why a Jewish boy from NYC married a lotus flower from Zhengzhou.
Let me say, I am a person who has struggled with anxiety for most of my life. I have also been told I have ocd tendencies. And as someone who has spent many a day thinking about how crazy I must be and how crazy the world must think me, this really hit home.
But above that, the writing style was thoroughly engaging. It’s like you sat down and Nia just told you about her day. It’s very easy and enjoyable to read.
This book is a page-turner. Nia is guarded and keeps two interested men in her life guessing, which I found a bit shocking. But I couldn't put the book down until I found out which man she picked and if it all worked out. Nia is definitely not your standard female protagonist. The way she describes her challenges with obsessive-compulsive disorder made me realize that she felt unable to approach life head on because she could not accept herself as a person with a disability. I won't spoil it for readers by revealing whether she does or not by the end, but suffice it to say this novel was both well-written and engrossing.
This subject matter may not be suitable for everyone. This is my memoir on my early upbringing into early adulthood. I will talk about my firsthand experiences of being assaulted as a small child and the long-term effects it had on my overall mental health. This book also references real people. All names have been changed. I wanted to take a conversational approach with this and have it feel like a living journal. At times it will feel abrasive and jarring; I wanted to highlight how my weird brain thinks.
