DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
How in God’s name does something like this happen?
It is the magnetizing gaze that sends Emma spinning into a life-changing experience in which she becomes grudgingly embroiled. The changes in her body. The ever increasing presence in her stomach. The struggle to contain emotion as she carries out her commitment. The push to get rid of this thing—this thing that percolates deep within the bowels of her belly.
The answer lies in a journey of inexplicable horror, and an unsettling discovery that forever changes Emma.
“Set in Arizona during a political campaign, a petulant, fragile, tormented, and sometimes strong protagonist emerges. She will evoke contradictory emotions, encouraging the reader to keep turning the pages. Through detail and imagery, the author paints a vivid picture of the protagonist’s home, office, streets, buildings, memories, and fantasies. Even minor characters come alive. C. Marie Schrant’s first novel deserves attention.” —Susan Ball, B.ED., M.ED.
“C. Marie Schrant weaves an intricate story about unrequited love and the demons this love evokes. When Emma is driven by a forceful entity to love a man she doesn’t want to love, she must fight the internal battle all the way through to the end. It begs the question of what is real love and how far one must go to experience it.” —Stephanie Elliot, Author
The unintended consequence of meeting Jim resulted in the development of the author's skill set and the story line embedded in this novel. He paved the way for the awakening of an innate drive to write a book - a drive that had lain dormant for many years. Jim has no idea of the role he played in the culmination of this work. The author is eternally grateful for the day she received his unsolicited call - the call that opened the door for him to walk straight into the author's life.
