Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, but
moved to Northwest Indiana, a suburb of Chicago, at nine. I still live in Northwest
Indiana today.
Out of high school, I went on to college to enter the world of nursing. For a
few years, I worked in hospice, a tough job for a young healthcare worker, one
that made a lasting impression. After taking some time off for the birth of my
three children, I decided to try my hand at a new career and went back to get a
different degree, this time in English and History. I am graduating from
Central State University this spring and from there heading to IU where I will
be working on a Master's of History.
What inspired you to author this book?
I am a ghost hunter; that is my hobby, passion, and job. I travel the United States where I investigate some of America's most famously haunted locations. I have worked with many famous names in the industry, including those who have worked on both Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters. Many of my followers suggested that I turn my adventures into a book so that they could follow along as I go.
Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?
I worked with an excellent cover designer who
has designed the covers for all three of my books. She sent me some ideas and a
link to a website with many options; from there, I began looking for an ominous
cemetery look. I was looking for something that gives the foreboding vibe I
once experienced on an investigation. This particular investigation is
referenced in the third chapter of this book. It is a fan favorite of my
followers, so I thought it would be a nice little nod to that particular
investigation.

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?
Personally, my most significant influence was
a teacher I had in high school. He has a brilliant way of combining history
with the supernatural. We were able to go on several field trips to locations
around the area said to be haunted. This is where I first got the thirst for
ghost hunting. Ever since that year, I have been hooked on the paranormal.
As a writer, my most significant influence was Jane Austen. I used to hate
reading, hated writing, but I began reading her books and about her life, and
learn to really appreciate the art for what it was. If it was not for her
stories, I may never have discovered how much I love reading and writing.
What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?
Time constraints. I have three school-aged children who are all involved in extracurricular activities, which keeps me on my toes. In addition, I am the creator and investigator of Hauntings Around America, which has me traveling the whole country for investigations. This year alone, I traveled to 21 states for investigations meaning most of my free time was either in the car or on a plane. It seemed as though every time I got into a groove while writing, life would come calling, and I would have to take another break.
Tell your readers about your book.
This book, unlike the other books I have written, are from a first-person perspective. Instead of giving the history and talking about the supposed hauntings of the locations, in this book the reader gets a front row seat to what I was experiencing as I investigated these locations. I take the reader with me to Gettysburg, Tombstone, Waverly Hills, Miami, and many more stops along the way.

What do you consider your greatest success in
life?
It sounds cliche, but my family. I have three kids, six animals, and one husband, who are all the most important beings in my life. I am very lucky and am grateful for the life we have created.
What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?
This book is unique in that it gives the
reader a bit of history on the location, but then we dive right into the
investigation itself. It is done through the feelings I felt, the experiences I
had, and the results of the investigation. It is not all dark and gloomy as
many like to play up when ghost hunting is involved. There are humorous parts
along the way. There are scary parts. It's a mix. This gives the reader to
experience ghost hunting the way many of us do investigations.
