Conscious Care: A Nurses Guide to Mindful Health

Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school, etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

I was born and raised in a small town in Wisconsin, where I still reside. In a town where life moves a bit slower, you can feel the warmth and closeness of the community. I am a single mom of 3 amazing boys that keep me on my toes. I have had my share of life's ups and downs but decided to choose myself, and now I want to help others do the same.

What inspired you to author this book?

My inspiration for writing "Conscious Care" stemmed from my new outlook on life. As a registered nurse, I was astounded by the lack of education regarding the functioning of the mind and the significant influence our thoughts have on every aspect of our lives. This realization inspired me to explore and share how deeply our mental processes affect our health and well-being.

Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?

I chose a beautiful image of a brain for the cover of my book because it directly reflects the book's content. The brain is a marvelous organ, and understanding its complexities can profoundly improve our lives. This cover invites readers to explore how powerful and impactful learning about the brain can be.

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?

My children have had the most significant influence on me, both personally and as a writer. They stood by me through the toughest and darkest times of my life, witnessing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Their presence and support motivated me to heal and grow.

What were the struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

Writing "Conscious Care" presented its challenges, but I consciously decided to prioritize my needs and remain committed to the project. I constantly reminded myself that giving up was not an option. Given the profound transformation I've experienced in my own life, I felt a deep responsibility not to disappoint myself and to provide others with the opportunity to transform. During tough times, I turned to prayer and clung to my vision for this book. This resolve kept me going and enabled me to overcome any obstacles that stood in my way.
