AUTHOR INTERVIEW - ERIK P. T. ROSENBERG

ERIK P. T. ROSENBERG

Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

My name is Erik, and I am currently living in Sweden, I grew up in Sweden and I was always in love with Scandinavian noir and fantasy/mystery fiction books.

What inspired you to author this book?

Since I had been dealing with mental illness, for the past few years, I created a world in which the protagonist, who is a psychiatrist, faces the same challenges and problems and tries his best to push forward. In my book, the themes of depression, pain, trauma, war, and reality are touched on often and in-depth.

Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?

My book's cover is inspired by a scene in the book. The reader will realize toward the end of Book 1 what the iris on the cover truly resembles.

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?

My biggest influence was the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Tolkien. I tend to fuse their fantasy with horror/mystery and with a gentle touch of Scandinavian Noir. Music, of course, played a big role. Without music, this book would have never been possible.

What were the struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

The fear of exposure and the fear of failure. This is the reason I do not reveal my real face or name.

Tell your readers about your book.

My book could be better described as a historical fantasy/mystery horror novel. The events take place around 1870 but not in our world. Real names and places are not used and are heavily avoided. It could easily be added to the list with Victorian books, but the cosmic horror and mystery make it different. If you like a murder mystery, horror, and historical fantasy with a touch of Gothic architecture and atmosphere, then this is your book.

Who is your target audience, and why?

My target audience is people who love mystery books and are familiar with the sensitive subjects I touch. My book is fantasy first and mystery after, so of course, fantasy lovers will find a warm home in Nordic Dreams pages.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?

Finishing three books and finding the courage to publish them.

What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?

I believe the fact that I blend Cosmic Horror with Historical Fiction and delve into philosophical subjects surrounding life and existence.
