DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
Today's BOOK OF THE DAY, "Survival and an Unexpected Life" by Robert Smith, is an uplifting memoir for those who have suffered pain and diagnosed with Cancer. This book hits home for me as I was in a serious car wreck breaking my ulna and radius requiring surgery, fractured two vertebras, fractured my shoulder, tore the rotator cuff, and who knows what else. It has been a long road to recovery, and I'm not there yet. Talk about having an unexpected life and surviving, that defines my last ten months. Not matter what challenges you face, this book can be your tool to managing. Don't miss out and order your copy today.
Through working and living in different foreign countries, facing life challenges that were unprecedented and at times seemingly never-ending, Robert became humble and an overall better person. He shares his story here in order to connect with and inspire others going through difficult times to know that it is possible to overcome and become stronger because of it.
In his debut book and memoir, Robert goes through his harrowing tale of surviving a life-threatening illness while also dealing with the loss of loved ones. Robert has successfully beat cancer, and in many ways that were the least of his accomplishments. It seems difficult times and challenges come at us in immense waves, and Robert’s story is no exception. Throughout the book, he details his journey and the choices he made to leave his comfort zone and press onward.
His book takes us on an incredible and true journey of dealing with cancer and heartbreak in his forties, where he is diagnosed on his 40th birthday. This set him off on a journey working and living in Papua New Guinea, Mali West Africa, Egypt and the Philippines, which would forever uproot and change his life. In many ways, for the better. While obstacles thrown at us in life can be stressful and overwhelming, they can also define our choices for the better. The most inspiring stories are ones that are true, and Robert’s tale is nothing short of unique and incredible.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
At this time in my life, I am working online as a technical writer. I decided to write this eBook “Survival and an Unexpected Life.” I survived kidney cancer at age 40 and at age 61 had emergency surgery in Egypt for bowel cancer. These two cancers are over a 27-year period. I survived and this led to a very Unexpected life. Dealing with life challenges can be hard and at times you need to seek inner strength.
I left a secure job in Australia of 17 years at age 51, started my own business that led to working in Papua New Guinea, Mali West Africa and Egypt. During this time, I married and now live in the Philippines. I experienced one of the biggest storms to make landfall, Typhoon Yolanda where over 7000 people lost their lives in Tacloban, Leyte, Philippines. I just felt this is a story I needed to tell!
