DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
Things are progressing extremely fast toward Christmas day. Last night, my husband and I finally put the stockings and Nutcrackers on the mantle. You see, we have had this tradition for as I long I have been married. My husband started it with the engraved stockings for he and I. Then as children came into the family, we added theirs and their nutcracker, then husbands, and then grandchildren. So, the tradition continues.
If you look at the three books by the gold present, that's another tradition we have -- before any one gets to open one present, we remember the true meaning of Christmas. Those three books are children's Bible stories and three of our grandkids get to read them aloud. It makes for a wonderful time as we all gather and listen.
Another thing we do on Christmas day is we read other books too. This year I have introduced you to several authors with magnificent children's books for their stockings. Today's author, Christie Lou is a first for me and this blog, her book, "The Woodpeckers and the Storm," is available in six languages. I can't wait to introduce you to her and the book.
The Woodpeckers Charles and Charlotte are living happily in their home, but one day the tables are turned, and they end up being homeless. How would they survive that challenging phase, and who would help them? With the shades of happiness, fear, doubt, and hope, this story is full of compassion, energy, and optimism.
Tell
your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now,
where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.
I
grew up in South Sweden. My grandparents lived near a forest named Kronoskogen;
I use to spend lovely weekends walking around this forest with my family. My
books are about forest animals. I love to learn languages; I speak Swedish,
Spanish, German and English. I am learning French and Italian. I have been
living in Spain since I was 11-years-old and I have got many friends from
different nationalities, therefore I thought it would be nice that they can
also read my books in their language. The book "The Woodpeckers and the
Storm" is published today in English, Spanish, German, Italian, French and
Swedish.
Where did you get the
inspiration for your book’s cover?
The
woodpecker is so funny and nice. I love oaks.
Who has been the most
significant influence on you personally and as a writer?
My
son.
What were your
struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?
It
was effortless to write.
