DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
It is the great secret—a dangerous prophecy—that strings the lives of Adam, Dara, Nova, and Megan in a unique plot. United by pain and grief, they emerge as the whistle-blowers, as well as the flagbearers, responsible for shaping up the new world of 2107. Their interactions throughout the book will raise questions about love, destiny, pain, revenge, science, and even the divine.
"There is so much to love about Iteration: The Winds Of Destiny." This ambitious debut novel is as wide in scope and theme as it is gravely plausible. If you like your science fiction bold, intelligent, and dystopian, then author A. I. has written just the tale for you.
Like the best sci-fi futurism, Iteration serves as much as entertainment and food for thought as it does a warning to our future selves. It is simultaneously dark and hopeful, as a band of well-crafted characters takes a harrowing stand against our AI overlords. The premise feels timely and relevant in the sense that it takes the cusp of an AI revolution the real world is currently teetering on and follows it to one frighteningly plausible conclusion—one that doesn’t necessarily have humanity’s best interests in mind. The author paints the domination of artificial intelligence and last-ditch human Resistance with powerful strokes and grave stakes.
This highly imaginative, layered, and pensive book takes readers on a deep and curvy dive into a post-apocalyptic future where narratives bridge even dimensional divides. The non-linear plot may strike some as a bit chaotic, but it’s all part of the unique appeal of author A. I.’s creative style. The journey is your reward as reader; though, the ending will cement Iteration in your memory and ensure you cherish your humanity."

The substance of Iteration is hair-raising. It’s the futuristic story of what could actually potentially happen to humanity if artificial intelligence is allowed to evolve to the point that it takes over the world (with the help of a human mad scientist, of course). It is made more realistic by referring to the humans fighting the overtaking AI as “the resistance,” hearkening back to the French Resistance in WWII. There is a priest in the story and references to the Design (capitalized), which infers God.
Iteration moves quickly back and forth between not only timelines and locations, but dimensions/alternate realities, sometimes even in the same chapter.
This is the first fiction book from this author. It is this reviewer’s hope that he keeps honing his craft and writing more fiction. Iteration itself could very easily become a series of books or a series of spin-off books for each subplot/character.
I would recommend this book for Young Adult and Adult readers alike who are interested in technology, resistance, science fiction, or apocalyptic writing, and who appreciate a good ending.
From the book:
Adam was scared, but his curiosity unleashed his powers. Gifted with an inquisitive mind, there was no end to his quest for knowledge. In this journey, if death means the only way to get answers to his questions, he is more than willing to embrace it. Chances are, what he was considering to be the end might actually be a new beginning—a beginning of something magnificent and great.
“The glow in her eyes and pink on her cheeks reminded her how young she was. In other moments, she contemplated that beauty that went forgotten in the middle of struggles and sacrifices; a beauty she could no longer appreciate, as it was no longer appreciated.”
Angela stood up proudly to recite the Oath of the Resistance. “I swear to protect Alpia. I swear to protect my people. I swear to cherish my humanity and my freedom until my last breath.”
“You really need to think fast. At this rate, we will be caught in less than two minutes.” Nieder was hardly able to escape from all the units coming from everywhere.
“Well, crazy people, let’s see what we can do!” Adam had a generous smile on his face. The squad willing to risk their lives to save him reminded him what his father always said.
“When those people decided to join the resistance, they imagined this moment. I am sure that the last thing you saw was their smile.”
“You are always right, Dad!” Adam wiped his tears.
