"My Summer at Seashore Hotel" by Sandra Karen Garcia

I like to introduce to you a quick read that I think you will find enjoyable. Although it is now fall, don't let the title fool you. Yes, summer is over, but that doesn't mean you can't revisit the warmth. As for me, I live in New Orleans, and it is ninety degrees and I still can swim in my pool. I hope you enjoy getting to know author Sandra Karen Garcia and her book My Summer at Seashore Hotel.

  1. Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.
I am a Kindergarten teacher who loves to read in my free time! My favorite genre of books is love stories. I have always had a passion for being creative. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Art and a Master's Degree in Health Education from the University of New Mexico. My hobbies include working out at the gym, reading, watching tv, shopping, creating picture collages, taking pictures and spending time with family and friends.
  2. What inspired you to author this book?
I have always loved to read and within the past few years, I’ve read hundreds of books. I wanted to create a story that gave readers hope and excitement for life. A friend of mine passed away and it inspired me to take that leap and put the words to paper.

  3. Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?
I wanted something that was airy and light like summertime. I wanted to capture the important parts of the book to make readers interested in the meanings behind the pictures on the cover.
  1. Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?
My family and my husband are the most influential because they have always supported my love for reading and have helped me throughout the process of publishing.
  2. What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?
The struggles throughout this book were deciding when to add more details or take away some so the point was properly conveyed.
  3. Tell your readers about your book.
It is finally summer! Grace is heading back to the Isle of Palms, South Carolina after spending four years at UCLA earning her degree. There is one person Grace cannot get off her mind… Noah. Grace and Noah were best friends growing up - all until one night when everything changed. Noah and Grace have not spoken since the night before she left for college. She was excited to go back to the place she’d called home, but would she and Noah be able to figure things out this summer?

  4. Who is your target audience, and why?
My target audience is girls between the ages of 15-60+ or anyone that wants a cute summer love story. I think many people will be able to relate to the characters and the feelings they experience throughout the book.
  5. What do you consider your greatest success in life?
My greatest success in my life is the relationships I build with my family, friends, students, and community. I pride myself on how I treat others and try to create a positive environment at home and at work. These relationships are where real changes occur.
  6. What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?
I am unique to my genre in the way I approach storylines, character development and offer endings.
