Tomorrow begins March which includes St. Patrick's Day and my birthday. Do you know what else happens in March? During March, schools across America celebrate reading. That's right. "March is Reading Month." As an author, I love the fact that schools celebrate reading and I hope that instead of allowing students to read on their computer, they have the opportunity to visit the library, pick several books, and read them. If you're a teacher, I challenge you to schedule time for your students in your school's library or schedule a fieldtrip to your local library and allow your students the opportunity to read there. As parents, this month is the golden month to take your children to the library and have them apply for a library card. I think it is important to not only to read to your children, but also have them read to you.
This brings me to today's Book of the Day. "The Tent Mouse and the RV Mouse" by Loretta Sponsler is one of the cutest books I've seen and read to my grandchildren. The book by design is a picture book and the illustrations are amazing. Take a look.
ABOUT THE BOOK
The Tent Mouse and the RV Mouse is a modern twist on Aesop’s
fable, The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. While Thomas Tent-Mouse loves to
camp in his tent where he feels connected to nature, his cousin Harvey RV-Mouse
loves to camp in his RV where he feels safe. Adventure awaits these
outdoor-loving cousins, as they learn that it’s okay to like different things.
