I am very excited to introduce you to Joy M. Lilley and her new novel "One Chance Encounter." Why? The book is fabulous with unexpected twists and turns. I had the pleasure of being the editor on this project as well as publishing the book under my company Absolute Author Publishing House. When working with this author, we became friends although she lives across the pond in the UK and me in New Orleans. The distance didn't bother us and I hope to one day travel to visit her in the near future. Now, let me tell you about the book and introduce you to Joy.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?
It has to be raising four children having been fortunate enough to see them into life successes. Then my nursing career because never being an academic I managed to succeed in becoming a senior nurse in a career that was my destiny.
What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?
I suppose it has to be that I do not write in a single genre. All my books vary. One slight similarity is within my first novel “Figs, Vines and Roses” which is an historical romance and this last novel “One Chance Encounter” is a romance too. Having said that, I feel sure there are many writers who practice their craft in the same way as I do.

Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up,
where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the
personal you.
Hello to all my readers, my name is Joy Gerken; however, I write
under the pen name of Joy M. Lilley. I grew up in Folkestone, Kent England and
now live in Hythe, which is about five miles away. I went to a secondary modern
school until my father decided I was getting in with a motley crowd and that I
should go to a private school. This I did for the last three years of my
education. It helped me with the elocution lessons I had to undertake, which
has led to the voice over work I now perform. I married the first time when
very young. This marriage resulted in one son, Roger, and a fourteen-year
marriage. During this time, I became a State Enrolled nurse and loved every
minute of it. Even the unsocial hours and sadness that had to be overcome were
enjoyable. It was during my second marriage in which I acquired three
stepchildren, another son and two daughters. Later, I took myself off to night
school to attain the qualifications required to be able to train as a
Registered General nurse and worked within nurse management for the latter years
of my long career retiring in 2008. It was at this time I began to take writing
seriously. I have four books published and the one you're hearing about now
makes it five. I love writing and will continue to do so for as long as I am
able. I now have six grandchildren and four great-grand-children. Family life
features highly in my world. I love to travel and do so as time and money
allows. I wish you all well in your lives and may you be happy and healthy,
With all good wishes,
Joy

What inspired you to author
this book?
I wrote this novel after
hearing of so many lonely women, looking for love and not realizing they were
looking in the wrong direction. They ended up in misery and a good deal out of
pocket. In this book, vanity also plays a considerable part.
Where did you get the inspiration for your
book’s cover?
Through my publisher’s advise which is Absolute Author Publishing
House. I am delighted with the result as I hope you will be.
Who has been the most significant influence
on you personally and as a writer?
My Sister who thinks it marvelous that I write novels. And of
course my readers who inspire and encourage me to keep going. It is not always
easy and finding the right individuals to help you a bit hit and miss.
What were your struggles or obstacles you had
to overcome to get this book written?
None, I found this book one of my easiest to write. I was lucky
as I struggled for years with my last book “Strawberry Moon” which is a murder
mystery set in France.
