Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

I grew up in Elberton, GA. It is a small rural town. I went to Elbert County High School. I graduated in 2013 with my diploma. I am the oldest of six.

What inspired you to author this book?

I wanted to focus on real-life issues that have been going on forever. I felt it was time for me to start writing a book where love wasn't the genre. Police brutality and racism are still roaming in our atmosphere.

Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?

I wanted to step outside the box. I didn't want people on it, but abstract art is a key factor to inspiring me to write a storyline.

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?

I would say my friends and family (immediate). They give me inspiration for my characters, but for this story, that wasn't the case.

What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

Basically, I lost a good friend, who impacted my writing a lot. It was to the point I was about to give up and ghost away from writing. Two months later, I said I have to finish this book. I didn't want to disappoint my friend by giving up my craft.

Tell your readers about your book.

Front Steps on Harlem Avenue is about a group of residents who form a bond and overcome racism, police brutality, teen issues, and single parenting issues.

Who is your target audience, and why?

I would mainly say, women. The majority of my protagonists are women, and my goal as an author is to create heroines women readers will cherish.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?

Being an Author Academy Award Nominee of two books

What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?

My stories are original. I feel that by me getting inspired by everyday life to create the plot is what really makes me unique as an author. To be honest, I grew up in the church, and the stuff I saw gave me the inspiration to write. Not only is my writing based on life experiences I have been through but what others have been through that I have known from my childhood and adulthood.
