Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

I grew up in the Midwest. I live on the west-side of Los Angeles with my partner in life, Peej. I went to a small liberal arts college in Denver, CO and graduated with a B.A. (with distinction) in musical theatre. I have been studying New Thought principles for 40 years and became an ordained minister teaching the Science of Mind, ancient and new thought wisdom, and the tools from neuroscience and quantum techniques.

I am primarily a storyteller whose life purpose is to inspire all with the tenets of New Thought, neuroscience, and ancient wisdom to live in their greatness and to reveal their birthright to love, enjoy and prosper with, as, and through the Universal Power of Life.

I have years of experience and continue my growth and expansion as a professional singer, actor (check IMDB), and voice artist, working in the self-improvement industry, writing and producing theatre and video, and speaking on and teaching metaphysics. I have filled my toolbox with much to share, and I love sharing.

What inspired you to author this book?

Every week I write these affirmative incantations (affirmations) for my community at the New Thought Spiritual Center. I decided it was time to share them and some other principles of best practices in making life work for you with the world.

Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?

I like the idea of sun and earth colors. This book is partly to feed the soul, as well as the mind. The cover represents the nourishment and growth of ourselves, the planet and all of Life's creations. Life is a power that we can tap into to warm our heart, ignite the spark within, and learn from through our intuitive wisdom. As Rumi wrote, “You are not a drop in the ocean; you are the entire ocean in a drop.”

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?

Wow, that's like asking me who's my favorite child. Some writing influence favorites are Ernest Holmes, Raymond Charles Barker, and U. S. Anderson for their clarity of spiritual principles; Harvey Cohen for his humor in describing spiritual principles; Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Joe Dispenza, and Gregg Braden for their science in spirituality ideas, and Dr. Wayne Dyer for his expansion of ancient wisdom. There are others, but I already said more than you asked.

What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

Like most people, it was a combination of procrastination, wondering if was any good or anyone would care about my take, and rewrites with the big question, “is it finished?” But like Leonardo da Vinci is quoted as saying, “Art is never finished, only abandoned.” Maybe abandoned isn't the word but released. When I felt a quasi-sense of completion, I sent it to several colleagues and friends for their take, which brought a fresh sense of support and a spark of insight to continue the journey towards release.

Tell your readers about your book.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”  The yourself that he is talking about is the authentic you that isn't filtered through the old stories of shame, blame or guilt, or the junk thinking of lack and limitation that might have been taught to you by parents, teachers, clergy, social media, and the news. Through the principles found in the essays and the twice-a-day use of these weekly affirmations that I call Affirmative Incantations; you can reboot your perspective on life and reveal the divine power in you that has laid dormant or just needs a boost for the day.

Who is your target audience, and why?

My target audience is anyone who is ready to open their minds to a new way of thinking. The person willing to take a deep dive in an empowered perspective that exposes their true identity and the power of that identity to make life fabulous.

If you were going to give one reason for anyone looking at your book to read, why should they buy it?

To change your thoughts, you must change your perspective. And when you change your perspective, you will change your life.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?

Using my talents to inspire, provoke, entertain, and teach others the tools and ideas to facilitate being their best selves and having a magnificent life. I believe we each are an irresistible magnet with the power to attract unto ourselves everything we desire or require in life.

What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?

I am into the idea that life is serious fun. What's more fun than creating a great life? And what's more serious as creating one's best life? The essays and affirmative incantations are all a combination of this idea of serious fun; some a little more fun than others. I write about the tools, techniques, and, most of all, the joy of affirming, optimizing, and creating our best life. And that should be fun, while at the same time, is serious business.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

I take walks, breath, meditate, and sometimes, just put it away for a bit. When I push, I tend to stall. Imagination, even in the more technical aspects of writing, is trans-formative. Living in the moment of what I am writing, even in non-fiction, is essential. I  think the lesson or information rendered in something I write is still a character, with history, facts, and blood coursing through it. My job is bringing it to the reader.

What one piece of advice do you have for new authors?

Write, write, write...2 words or 2000 words...write. Don't think about the fame and fortune, the marketing or format...write...tell the story (fiction or nonfiction). When the time comes, find a mentor to lead you onto the path of the other stuff.

What is next for you in your writing career?

I am working on the next volume of “The Affirmation Revolution.” And some other ideas are brewing.

Tell your readers anything else you want to share.

I have complete faith in your ability to experience your magnificence in the best way possible. The Universe is full of infinite possibilities and opportunities. Bringing them to our lives is a combination of our mental state, willingness to learn and transcend, and taking action in body, mind, and heart. Get out there and start rockin' it!
