DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
You are in for an exciting read with today's BOOK OF THE DAY, "The Great Lockdown," by the Perrone Brothers. Not since the "Hunger Games," have I been this captivated by a book. It's exciting, thrilling, and one that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and you won't want to put down. It has all the makings of becoming a bestseller. What is the book about? In the walls of the Dome lies the secrets of mankind’s near extinction. After sixteen years of manipulation, Franz Azzard is closer than ever to mass control of the remaining American population. After creating seven provinces, he keeps those who are sick and contradicting visionaries on the outskirts with plans to expand his command. Luck has it that the missing piece to his devious plot is about to walk through the front gates. A naive teenager, or Quaranteen as they are referred to now, Regina Stone is forced to do her civic duty on her upcoming birthday and receive the renowned vaccine. With the help of some unexpected friends, she comes to the alarming realization that she must flee the world she grew up in order to restore the world of the past.
When your blood’s worth more than gold, do you save yourself or the world?
Regina Stone is a typical everyday teenager, raised by a single mother in a modest home. She goes to school in a building surrounded by armed guards and barricades, living in constant fear of a deadly virus. And like every other kid in Providence C, she eagerly awaits her Pinning Ceremony at renowned scientist Frank Azzard’s Dome.
There, she and other sixteen-year-olds will get their first dose of a lifesaving antidote. But things are not what they seem. Regina’s blood sample causes chaos in the Dome, and she finds herself under constant surveillance. But her life as she knows it ends when an outcast student, Kenji, breaks Regina out of her cell.
Kenji reveals a hidden world of deceit and manipulation all centered around one man. Frank Azzard. They have been in search of the cure—the perfect DNA to make one vaccine for the world. And with Regina’s arrival, they’ve found it.
Now on the run, the children are hunted. But they are not alone. A mysterious rebel named Hunt and Regina’s teacher, Mr. Ace, appear and guide them to temporary safety.
On the run, the world falls apart around the young girl. Yet, all the while, everything and everyone seems to be connected to Regina.
Regina and Kenji must make it to the safety of the rebel Nest before Azzard and his soldiers find her. But will Azzard have an upper hand that will force hers?

For everyone who survived quarantine, who is STILL in quarantine. For everyone with questions not being answered, everyone who thinks or questions....The Great Lockdown is a must-read adventure and mind-blowing experience! 100% waiting for another round to happen. It NEEDS to happen lol.
Raised in a suburb of Boston now living in the southern state of Virginia, Dana has learned northern inspiration and southern hospitality. He lives with his wife Jesse and their beautiful daughter Regina. He is also the parent of two dogs, Marley and Adeen. This is Dana and his brother Anthony’s first novel. A fun project that has turned into a passion of storytelling. We hope you enjoy “The Great Lockdown.”
Anthony's passion to write about adventures and fantasy worlds started as fictional short stories. He, Dana, and their close friend Matt would take turns sharing a few paragraphs of a random post-apocalyptic story and the next would pick up where the previous left off until a chapter was created. Anthony's job led him to move multiple times a year. This helped change his perspective on life and directly affected his writing style. He now lives in Philadelphia happily engaged and is the proud owner of a golden retriever puppy.
