Queen Corona escaped from The Land of Snow and want to find her sister so they could go after sea turtles. My name is L.A. Davis. I am beyond proud of this work of imagination for several reasons. This short book took several years to be. I had someone draw me as a mermaid to protest the racist harassment of Halle Bailey when she was chosen to do the live-action movie version of "The Little Mermaid." One particular comment on social media that really upset me was a man asking, "CAN SHE GET HER HAIR WET? I decided to go under the sea as a mermaid with an Afro on my social media page. I had no idea when I chose this form of silent protest, that my caricature would spawn an idea to write this beautiful, silly, book that is bursting at the seams with imagination. I hired someone to create each character, then each scene. This book represents my culture and important lessons for everyone who decides to read it. It provides lessons on geography, trust, keeping your word, parental support, the world working together, misogyny, global warming, climate change, friendship, and much more. You are free to take whatever lessons your mind allows you to receive. This book was so much fun to write because it allowed me to use my imagination as a child would. Two of the characters are representations of me, and the four main characters have characteristics from where they were born. Clarissa and Clarence are from an island called Twin City, where only twins are born. Alicia is from Rock City. She is strong and stubborn. Phillip is from Love City. He is the most level-headed of all four friends. Though he has his beliefs as a merman, he is open-minded and kind. The most unique thing about my mercreatures is that each has an emblem on the front of their tail to represent where they were born. My mermaids discover a secret that a seahorse shares with them, that even their mothers don't know about.
