Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you
live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.
Life has been very disciplined as I belong to a family of
Professors. One thing that I learned is - “Respect Knowledge, and listen to
knowledgeable people.”
I did my initial schooling, engineering, and then the
Executive Program in Business Analytics from one of the premier Institutes in
India. Now, for the past couple of years, I am in the United Kingdom. I am
happy that thirst for learning more is keeping me on my toes.
I have been a quick learner, be it at school or college or
now in the professional corporate world.
My area of interest and research is Financial Technologies.
Also, when we learn something, there is a sense of
achievement, and that gives us the courage to give something back to society,
be it - How can we control pandemics through technology or detect early to save
the world.
What inspired you to author this book?
I have been involved in grand banking programs like Voice
Biometrics, Apple Pay, Digital Communications, and Digital Payments. It is exciting to see How technology is
changing our day to day life through digital banking. It gave enough exposure
and my thirst to learn and share knowledge with society, and Yes, the outcome
of this thought is the book. Another angle is that Financial Technologies (FinTech)
is my area of interest and research. I have published research papers on
FinTech in International Journals cited by other researchers as well. So I decided to author a book in FinTech.
Surprisingly, within two weeks of release, it featured the
world’s best books recommended site BookAuthority.
Where did you get the inspiration for
your book’s cover?
When I was deciding the book cover along with the
publication team, only three things were there in my mind - Technology, human
ambition, and Regulation/ Control.
The book cover is a thought that reflects the Technological
vision of human ambition to bring every information available in front of us in
a single CLICK. And the Pyramid Top describes the Control over the information
available to us. There is a Globe inside the Pyramid that reflects that with a
new-age technology stack, our private information is secured.
My 9-year-old son helped me in deciding the color of the
cover.
Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a
writer?
It’s all about - Respect knowledge and listen to
knowledgeable people. I belong to a family of professors, so reading and
writing articles are quite common. My elder sister has done the research and
authored a couple of books on ethnobotany (medicinal plants). My brother is
again an avid researcher and has published various research papers.
Then recently, I met a person who also is a researcher with
many technology patents. He influenced me to get into the Innovation zone
through patents, so all these learned people have played a vital role in
shaping my thoughts and inspired me to take the challenge of authoring the book
- The Journey of RegTech.
FinTech is my area of interest and research, and I already
published several research papers on this subject, the process of shaping and
channelizing the thought was easy.
What were your struggles or obstacles you
had to overcome to get this book written?
Authoring a book is not as easy as we think when it comes
to reviewing from an editor’s lens. Selecting the right topic is the most
critical point as it sets the tone for the target audience. Technical books are
having a restricted set of audience who work in a specific field.
To get the attention of the people working on the niche
technology domain is quite a big task; we have to be cautious and at the same
time, innovative to bring value to the table.
Also, deciding the correct mix of innovation need an
immense amount of research and then putting the author’s innovative lens on top
of it to project value proposition.
Tell your readers about your book.
Let
me set up some context, in current time, the whole world has witnessed the
importance of social distancing, contactless payments, and digital banking.
At
the same time, mobile banking penetration has increased as there is a lockdown
around the world. As a result, everyone is adopting new technologies like
Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things for digital onboarding,
Identification, and verification through facial recognition or fingerprint and
image processing.
The
book “The Journey of RegTech” will help the reader to understand the Financial
Technologies used in today’s banking world.
The
book covers a wide range of topics such as FinTech, RegTech (Regulation
Technology), Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection, Blockchain, and
Disruption.
Recent
reports forecasted that investment in RegTech would touch more than $76 billion
by 2022. It is a niche area and will be in demand as it requires a good
understanding of the new-age technologies involved in FinTech and RegTech.
Readers
will gain knowledge and confidence and grow innovative thinking via insights
provided in every chapter.
Who is your target audience, and why?
We
are living in the era of Digital Transformation, which contains a wide range of
technology stack - Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing/ Services, Internet
of Things, and so on. Understanding Digital Transformation is the new normal.
The banking & Financial Industry is going through a major Digital
Transformation and getting into the FinTech zone.
Book
will help every individual who wants to excel in the niche field of FinTech and
RegTech. RegTech is the ecosystem that supports FinTech.
What do you consider your greatest
success in life?
Most
of the Leaders in the Banking & Finance Industry are following the FinTech
Trends. Following FinTech Trends and having a FinTech mindset are two different
things. That’s where authors who are having a FinTech mindset are considered
disruptive leaders and disruptive authors.
The
book is based on a FinTech Mindset that will help readers to think from an
innovation lens and technically describes the possible pillars of RegTech. It
will boost the confidence of the readers who wants to understand “The Journey
of RegTech.”
