by Tracey Shearer  (Author)

A hunky 18th-century Scottish ghost.

A modern-day serial killer.

Three women whose sisterhood could save them, but only if they can accept who—and what—they are.

The tangled threads that entwine their fates leave little question: if the Universe gives you a gift, refuse it at your own risk.

As a child, Samantha Hamilton once helped ghosts move beyond Entwine, where the world of the dead overlaps that of the living. This gift felt more like a curse, but it forged a bond between her and Kate and Beth, two other girls with incredible powers of their own. But when Sam couldn’t see her parents’ ghosts after their car crash, she locked away her curse, shattering their sisterhood in the process.

Years later, Sam reluctantly agrees to go to Scotland to try to rid Kate’s B&B of a poltergeist. That night, Sam dreams of a gorgeous 18th century Scotsman requiring her assistance. But he’s not a dream. Lord Robert Grenning is her first ghost in seventeen years, and unlike any ghost, she’s met before, she can touch him.

In Scotland, Kate teases Sam about “hunky, hunky Robert” who followed her to the B&B, which turns out to have been his family home. But Sam and Kate’s reunion falters when Beth, now a paranormal reality show star, shows up to help as well. The only thing Sam and Beth agree about anymore is protecting Kate, including shielding her from the true reason they can’t stand each other.

But there are darker things at work than a cantankerous poltergeist. The ghostly victims of a local serial killer demand an unbreakable Bargain for Sam to help stop their killer. And their red hair is only the first clue Kate is on the killer’s list.

To save the friend she’s already failed too many times—and to have any chance at love and a life with her unlikely soulmate—Sam will have to accept her gift and heal her bond with Kate and Beth, a sisterhood with the potential to be far more powerful than they ever could imagine…

  Not your typical romance...

Ok, I gotta admit it. I bought this book because I was intrigued by the unusual plot line, but fully expecting to maybe like it, but not love it. I am not a paranormal or romance reader as a rule. I was home with a crushed wrist and getting bored. So I thought, why not?

I curled up in my chair, pooch in lap, tea by my side and next thing I know its hours later and I am almost done with it! I really enjoyed it. The author knows her craft. Her characters are real and you care about them and their plights. She took several, very different and very difficult plots, wove them together and made it all come out right in the end. Not all clean and perfect, but very real.

Another note, there was just enough “adult scene” in this. So many authors, especially new ones, go over the top with sex in their books, which distracts and takes away, for me, from the books.

By the time I finished the book, I was invested in the characters. I am looking forward to her next book and fully expect to love it as much as this one.

Entwine was a thoroughly enjoyable read that managed to pull me away from several other books I’d been working through. It’s a story that fits a number of sub-genre’s without struggling to excel at any of them. There’s enough action and mystery and romance to go around.

I think what made Entwine one of my favorite books so far this year is the way it checked a number of plot conventions off the list without making them feel like dull re-treads. Main character has a significant fear of loss/survivor guilt: check. Main character struggles reconciling feelings with romantic relationships involving the man she ‘should’ be with: check. Main character had a massive falling out with childhood friends and needs to re-kindle those old bonds: check. The author has used what could be considered genre tropes as a very seamless, very well-executed foundation for her story...and that’s before the cool stuff with the ghosts even comes up!

Once Entwine kicks into gear and Samantha (MC) gets cracking, Shearer introduces a trio of interesting paranormal characters who could honestly carry their own respective novels. Two in particular (Beatrice and Caleb), seem to have some very interesting history/back story that could be explored in later installments. The world of the Entwine as a setting is played very straightforward, while the function of the Runners/Warden(s) is played very close to the chest. If I wanted for anything when the proverbial credits rolled it was a better understanding of aforementioned’s true function.

If you need a summer read with action, some sizzling romance, a murder mystery, and a story of childhood friends trying to set old wounds aside, Tracey Shearer has you covered with Entwine. 10/10 I’ll be reading her next endeavor.

Entwine Gives Life to the Paranormal

What an incredible novel. If you believe in ghosts and the paranormal or if you’re fascinated by the concept of ghosts or the paranormal, then you’ll enjoy this book.

Sam is called home to Scotland by her friend, Kate who needs help with her bed and breakfast. She’s been experiencing poltergeist activity and she’s hoping Sam can help her get rid of it. See, Sam (as well as Kate and their friend Beth) has special abilities. Sam can see, talk to, and help ghosts.

However, helping with the poltergeist isn’t the only obstacles Sam, Kate, and Beth need to face. Sam is also “recruited” by Lord Robert Grenning to help him clear his name and his family name after he was executed in 1790. By the way, a steamy relationship develops between Sam (a human) and Robert (a ghost). How? Read and find out. Also, the girls need to find who the killer is in some recent murders. The victims? Young women who look exactly like Kate.

This story was well-written. The description throughout is vivid and I love how you get emotionally attached to the characters. I highly recommend it.

5So, So, So WORTH It!

This book is different from other paranormal romances. The ghosts are unique. The relationship between the heroine and her friends is complex, at times fraught, funny, and loving. There is a history and a back story to the world and the characters living in it that makes you scream to want to know more. This book is really difficult to put down! The ending isn’t something anyone could predict, but it is satisfying. To say I’m excited to read the further adventures of Sam, Beth, Kate and their friends and family is a huge understatement. Read Entwine!

What a great start to this series. Has a little bit of everything, murder, mystery, broken friendships, steamy romance... We get enough back story on our main heroine and those around her that it draws you in and leaves you wanting more but still wraps up this installment nicely. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and hopefully following this author for years to come.
