It’s cool how different mythologies came together in Ryan Anderson’s previous books. Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, and Anubis, the Egyptian god of the underworld, were two of the heroes in his previous book series, God’s Beloved Fallen.

This book is all about their son, Connor, who they leave in the care of the Medieval church. He goes on a three-part quest to find his parents and gets subjected to some thought-provoking tests along the way. I feel like the scenery had a Celtic touch, which contrasted nicely with some of the other Greco-Roman-Egyptian underworld mythology from the previous books.

Cool read, makes a great afternoon book, and the ending is thoughtful and happy.
