Stay Afloat: ‘Praying Through the Pandemic and Beyond!’

Are you worn down due to the pandemic? Are you scared? Are you lonely? Do you feel like you are drowning? According to the medical research, all of these feelings are normal for anyone going through a crisis and living through COVID-19 certainly qualifies. For some, they try to go about their daily lives and never look back. Others, they stay on bended knees in prayer. I know that I am one of those who prays in the morning, lift thanks to Him in the afternoon, and prays at night to our Heavenly Father. Today's BOOK OF THE DAY, "Stay Afloat: Praying Through the Pandemic and Beyond," by Dr. Viju Philip is an excellent choice of inspiration during this difficult time. It is with pleasure that I introduce to you this book and to the author. Take a look.

 Dr. Viju Philip

Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

I grew up in India and graduated in Chemistry and then came over to the US to do my Masters and Doctorate. As an answer to a vision shown by God, we went to a village in INDIA and PLANTED A CHURCH and a K-10 SCHOOL for the children who would not have gone to school otherwise. Over the years, the school has educated about 2000 children, and the ministry still goes on.

Children have been my burden always, and I believe if we take care of today’s children, then we have a better nation tomorrow.

What inspired you to author your book?

The pandemic has left all of us fearful and confused. Such a situation can affect even our spiritual life. We do not know what to pray and how to pray. But we all know that nothing of eternal significance happens apart from prayer. It is prayer that connects our heart to the heart of God and moves His hand in our life. The very purpose of this devotional and prayer journal is to guide us into a systematic prayer habit that will enable us to ‘Stay Afloat’ during the pandemic and every other crisis of life.

This book is also intended to lead you back to the time when families prayed together. Personal prayer is communion with God—a communion that results in a deep spiritual connection and offers benefits beyond measure. And when we pray with other people—especially with our spouse, parents, or children—prayer can also be a special form of communion with one another. Such praying will have powerful benefits for individuals, couples, and even entire families.
