DR. MEL'S MESSAGE - From my novels to my other projects, no telling what you will read. This is the only place you will get to read about how I developed a screenplay into a novel and what is the driving force. I will talk about many things from films to books to acting to producing. It really will depend on where my mind takes me. I hope you will join me on this journey.
If your life has been one of struggle, abuse, neglect, and addiction, yet strength and redemption has kept you afloat, this book is for you. Invisible tells the story of a young girl growing up in Galveston, Texas. Deborah Marcel raises her younger sisters and brothers at the cost of her own childhood and adolescence. Despite her responsibilities and limitations, she carves a life for her and her daughters out of the Texas gulf coast in the latter 70s, 80s, and 90s. Her story is that of a young Black woman making her way through life, but Deborah Marcel shares her story so that any one can see the commonalities we all share with her. Her story will make you laugh, cry, and want to beat the daylights out of some fool. But be assured, you will be encouraged and forever changed by the life of Deborah Marcel.
Throughout my life I've encountered many obstacles that led me down a path of self-destruction. During my downward spirals, I learned many valuable lessons, that I feel will benefit people whose lives are unfortunately headed for the same trajectory. I decided to write this book to entertain, provide teachable moments, as well as aide my healing in the process. I hope my readers enjoy my journey.
