Lynn Wolff is a contemporary romance author and poet. She’s a wife, a mother, an animal lover, and a huge romance junkie. She likes her heroines smart and strong, her heroes with charisma and style, and she has never read a romance hero she didn’t like. She lives in the northeastern region of the United States with her family but is ready to ditch the cold winters and move to warm, sunny Florida. She would much rather be shoveling sand than snow. When she isn’t plotting or furiously tapping away on her keyboard, she is deep into the art of poetry, creating mini-stories through rhythm and rhyme.

Lynn Wolfe’s Butterflies and Lies is an inspired collection of poetry that finds the author drawing upon the ever-complex emotional palette of romantic relationships.

The book is intentionally separated into six thematic sections, with each collection prefaced by a stark, single-word title such as Somber, Awakening, Devotion, etc. It’s a decision that immediately pays dividends, allowing readers to ‘settle’ into a specific emotional response as they work their way through the material.

At face value, most of Wolff's selections seem to focus specifically on the many stages of love, from infatuation to disgust. Writing with tight, efficient prose that leans heavily on vivid bursts of imagery-laden text, Wolff’s work seems geared toward eliciting strong and immediate reactions, and in that regard, Butterflies and Lies is a resounding success.

As her brief forward explains, Wolff’s journey from penning her first poem to the publication of Butterflies and Lies was some two years in the making, thus rendering the evident maturity of her writing all the more impressive. Inspired, vivid, and at times, visceral, Butterflies and Lies is a worthy poetry debut from a strong, inspired voice.

This is a beautiful collection of poems that take you on a journey. You feel the love, hope, desire, heartache, and even inspiration. This is a book you can go back to when you feel the need. This book will be relatable to everyone. I recommend this to anyone who loves poetry.

Butterflies and Lies takes you on a beautiful, emotional journey through poetry. You feel the heartache, unease, desire, and love throughout these poems, flowing seamlessly through, from one stage to the next. Some poems will resonate long after, but this book of poems may be something I go back to every so often, to read and feel.

Beautiful & Poignant

What a wonderful introduction to this gifted poet's work!

I have been following Lynn Wolff's career for some time now
as she has published her work in various anthologies and
books of prose and poetry over the last two years.

The use of thematic sections is wholly unique for her style.

The emotional context that she uses to paint each poem
is beautifully done. I found myself reading each piece
almost contemplatively. It was like a meditation on my
emotional state, such is the symbolism and strong use
of imagery as she painted with her words her feelings
and emotions in all of the relationships that were involved.

There was nothing I didn't like about the book. You could
tell that she had reviewed and revised each piece, removing
anything that wasn't necessary to get her point across.

In the end, you're left with just the stark reality of the words
and how they move your heart and mind and most importantly
your soul as she speaks to you at a level both personal and
at times very deeply intimate.

Bravo on your first release Lynn! I am looking forward
to many more as I continue to follow this gifted
poet's career.

I just finished Lynn Wolffs poetry book and I must say that the poems are not only well written but they make you feel so many different emotions about all the aspects of romantic life. I highly recommend this book. I hope you all enjoy it as much I do.
