Reviews
This
book is great! If you’re trying to find new things to do with your kids,
especially as we’re all still social distancing, grab this book. There are
pages and pages of activities and crafts that will be sure to keep your little
one engaged. I have a four-year-old, and there were many activities we can do
now, but a couple I’ll wait for when he’s a little older. The book has lots of
instructional drawings of the activities too, so it’s really easy for a child
to follow along. I recommend this for any parent who’s looking for fun things
to do with their kids.
The
index alone is worth the price of the book. Go to the index page, pick an
activity, and get un-bored with your kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews. TURN
OFF THE PHONE! Escape the screens. Build memories that may become traditions
when your kids are grown and gone (some get grown but never gone). Seriously,
this is a great book. Next time my wife looks at me and says, “So ... what can
we do with ______ during ___ sleepover?” I’m pulling out this book - again.
Ahh~
how lovely, simple, and FUN! This book makes it easy to scan, select, and use
ideas at the drop of a dime (after all, we want to spend that time with kiddos
if possible... or at least get them on their way to playing). Just as we easily
forget favorite recipes and benefit from looking at a cook book, Plevin’s 167
fun activities bring classics back to the forefront and adds new ideas to the
mix too! There are even some links for home school guidance and purchasing
craft supplies at the end of the book. Most of the stuff you’ll likely already
have on hand. :)
FROM THE AUTHOR
I’m 51 years old. I live in the Eden Valley, Cumbria, with my
wife, Sally. We have three children between us, a dog called Bodhi and a
pantomime horse called Ned. I’m guessing that’s not the kind of stuff you’re looking for
though; you probably want some credentials. Well, I’m an ex-special education
teacher and even rose to the dizzy heights of ‘Deputy Head’ during the latter
years of my career, although I much preferred being in the classroom with the
kids. Since then, for the last 15 years, I’ve been running my own training
company – training teachers, parents and carers in behaviour management,
student motivation and stress management. If you check YouTube you’ll find me at the #1 spot for the term ‘classroom management’ with more than 3 million views. I wrote this
book because a lot of my work now involves working with parents and I believe
activities like these are wonderful for cementing all-important parent-child
relationships. You can contact me through my websites at www.theliferaft.org or www.needsfocusedteaching.com.
