I am excited to introduce you to Darwin Beloat, author of  VALDIMIRE: And the Viking Curse.

Darwin Beloat

Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

Darwin Beloat was born in San Diego, California, in 1950. He has loved to read since he was a kid but never loved going to school. Darwin just preferred to spend his time reading comic books and fantasy books instead of doing his homework or studying.

As he once testified: “I was obsessed with reading comic books and fantasy books like Edgar Rice Burroughs books. I would read these books instead of studying.”

Sometimes Darwin would ditch school because of his love for surfing. His deep desire to ride the waves gave him a sense of freedom. Surfing was probably the only thing that could distract the young Darwin from his fantasy reading.

Once Darwin grew up, he started a career as a chiropractor, and now he can count on 40 yrs of experience as a chiropractor plus being a member of Toastmasters for 12 yrs.

Darwin is now 70 yrs young and now lives in Bethesda, Maryland. He has always been a gym rat, and he loves to exercise.  He spends most of his time lifting weights, running, and biking.

Darwin likes animals, and they are drawn to him as well. He likes to walk near the pond in back of his house where he spends time feeding the geese and the turtles

What inspired you to author your book?

I read Ann Rice’s book Interview with a Vampire. Her writings inspired me to write VALDIMIRE AND THE VIKING CURSE.

What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

Making sure I wrote something every day.

Tell your readers about your book.

An intriguing paranormal fantasy set in an era where double-headed creatures, witches, and mythical monsters lived amongst mortals.

A vampire hero with a destiny so great that he is haunted by his undead uncle and three witches…

He was once a royalty; now, he is a prisoner.

This is a compelling novel set in the Viking era, and it tells the story of a heroic young man whose destiny will take him far away from everything he loved.
Valdimire’s fate was decided even before his birth that he would be cruelly separated from those he loved, but he would become a great ruler, and he will restore the lost glory of his Viking ancestors.

A resolution to survive….

Valdimire, the son of a Viking Prince and an Iceland princess, has to fight to stay alive. He is twelve-years-old when he meets his father for the first time. However, his father is cruelly murdered shortly after their reunion, and he becomes his undead uncle’s prisoner. He and his father’s surviving cabin crew are thrown into a dungeon. The seamen he has grown fond of were beaten, starved, and brutally killed.

He found strength in the memories of what his life used to be….

All he has left in the world is a prized helmet that used to belong to his mother. He endures many nights of starvation and years of torture. He comforts himself with the tales of the heroic deeds of his ancestors, which his mother used to tell him. The memories of his beautiful mother and his homeland strengthen him.

A curse or a twist of fate ….

Valdimire is rescued by an immortal martial artist, Master Zhang. Together, they would go on many adventures. When Valdimire walks into a trap and almost loses his life, Dracula transforms him into a vampire.

Will he fulfill his destiny? Can a vampire rule over mortals and will he see his beloved mother again?

If you were going to give one reason for anyone looking at your book to read, why should they buy it?

This book is a great read with none-stop entertainment.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?

I would say other than my 40yr career as a chiropractor, I would say its completing this Novel.

What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?

I almost flunked English and never considered writing a book. Yet here I am.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

I find it simple not to have writer’s block.  If I feel stuck, I stop fighting it, stop trying to figure it out, and become imperturbable.

What one piece of advice do you have for new authors.

Do your homework and make sure you write about something you are passionate about.
