Assassin Rising: 2044 The Alien Gene Project

Wow! I don't know what else to say about today's author interview and his book, "Assassin Rising: 2044 The Alien Gene Project," by Ryan Carriere. This book has all the makings for the perfect SciFi movie and I have no doubt it will become a bestseller. So, sit back, and get to know Ryan Carriere and his new book.

A NEW CYBERPUNK SERIES!

Part Hunger Games, part Assassin’s Creed, and all young adult cyberpunk action!

The book is set in the near future, 2040’s to be specific where an alien war called the Sky Wars are taking place. Humanity, struck by climate change, have banded together in districts central to the continents to avoid the rising coastlines and most populations have also migrated from the equator because of the sweltering heat. That sets up the scenario for wars and skirmishes; the only problem is that the two alien races who are warring above have completely shut down the world's militaries. Humanity is sitting ducks. The rest you’ll have to read!

Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

I grew up in Canada across the prairies and absolutely loved it! I never thought I’d be an author because I didn’t actually start writing until five years ago, where I only dabbled. It wasn’t until 2018 that I really hunkered down and wrote my debut novel Firestone: The Dragons Blood Prophecy.

What inspired you to author this book?

This book has been in the making for a while. I actually started writing it two years ago then stopped. It was from a different perspective but had very similar elements. I’ve always loved SciFi and anything to do with future tech, so this was an easy and enjoyable choice for me to author as a second series.

Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?

I wanted the cover to portray the main elements of the book: Aliens. Assassins. And the Apocalypse. I think it does that quite well. I also wanted there to be an element of mystery.

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?

Honestly the first book that really spoke to me was The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I read it in school, and before that, I wasn’t an avid reader. I spent most of my time drawing and painting, but that book got me hooked on reading.

What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

This book, my second series, had its challenges in the fact that I am writing it without an outline and going with the flow. My first series was quite different, where I had the ending in mind right from the very beginning, where this one is quite wide open.

Who is your target audience, and why?

My target audience is anyone who loves a good SciFi story full of action, espionage, and intrigue. It’s also full of assassins, aliens, and a very dystopian world. Because of the times we are in, COVID, I’ve added my take on the future of the virus and how it ‘might’ affect humanity. Because of the rebel and dystopian nature of Assassin Rising, I think it fits quite nicely with what teen & young adult readers want.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?

My greatest success in life is not really one thing, because I’ve accomplished a lot and I’m most proud of the fact that I am a bit of a ‘renaissance man’ in that. I write, illustrate, and design most of my own covers. Firestone, my first novel, is fully illustrated, and I think I did an awesome job for my first work.

What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?

I think the one thing that sets me apart from other writers is my unique perspective and attention to detail. I always try to find the edge of the cliff and walk that line of ‘beleivability vs. over the edge fantasy.’
