Tell your readers a little about yourself, where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school, etc. Let them get to know the personal you.

I live in the United Kingdom with my husband and children, however; I grew up in the country of Nigeria, West Africa. I also completed a lot of my schooling there before moving to the United Kingdom over 20 years ago.

As a little girl, I attended Church regularly and was brought up with beliefs that are in line with Biblical principles. I remember, with fond memories, several Church activities that I took part in at Sunday School, as a girl guide. These were experiences which enriched my life greatly and helped shape me for adulthood.

I also developed a love of reading at a very tender age and would devour books almost from the time I could read. Reading became a passion of mine and remains so till today.
I grew up in an era when we were able to have great interactions with extended family members and spent time with neighbors and friends without fears of danger, as such. Nowadays, I know things are a bit different the more that Society has changed.

My upbringing, interestingly, and now that I think about it, was all geared towards preparing my siblings and I for the future. To enable us to live independent lives; not to be a drain on Society, and to be able to contribute to its development. As a child, one did not always see or appreciate the big picture, of course.

At School, I was a prefect at both the primary and secondary school levels and, at the University, I was the president of my Engineering Students’ Association. This helped to further develop my leadership instincts and skills for which the foundation had been laid at home and in the various activities I had participated in.

In adulthood, I have also enjoyed a successful career with over 20 years of management and leadership experience working in the financial services and business development industries. I hold a first degree in Engineering and an MBA (International) postgraduate degree. I am married to a wonderful man, and the union is blessed with wonderful children. And for this I give glory to God.

What inspired you to author your book?

THE ROAD TO VALUE is not my first book. I have authored several other books before this. My first book titled; WINNING BUSINESS STRATEGIES was published about 10 years ago. And the others came thereafter. I write generally about business strategies and on self-help topics that Empower people. That is my passion.

My latest book, THE ROAD TO VALUE, is no different. It is based on a desire to inspire and empower people to pursue their purpose and achieve their dreams and goals.

I speak at conferences, facilitate workshops, and train leaders (both existing & aspiring leaders). My specialty is in leadership development, peak performance, and improved productivity. As a result, I often come across people with great dreams and visions, but who require support in the achievement of their goals.

I am also the host of a purpose-driven conference themed, INCREASE YOUR VALUE. This initiative has been quite successful as it has helped many people (both male and female) to overcome their fears, obstacles, challenges or whatever was holding them back and to press forward to achieve their goals. We have had some fantastic testimonials from attendees.

I also pioneered a platform which has been running for a few years called POTENTIAL UNWRAPPED. What we do here is help people to discover the potential in their ideas or concepts and to see whether it can be applied anywhere and if so, we would draw up a plan of why, where and how it can be applied to create maximum value for all.

I also co-created a platform for developing Future Leaders. This is an engagement program with the aim of developing youths into potential leaders. Youths who can grow up into accountable and responsible adults.

These, and many more of my activities and experiences all form the basis and the inspiration for the book, THE ROAD TO VALUE.

Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?

Ah. The book’s cover. That is another story on its own. I could probably author a book on that experience. I probably drove my designers round the bend in trying to achieve my vision for the book cover. In the end, I had 3 or 4 designers working on the design and I kept describing what it was that I wanted and the kind of feeling that I want to invoke in people when they see the cover. But, beyond that, I wanted the cover to depict what the book stands for and the message I want it to convey. The designers worked hard, and we got a great result in the end.

Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?

Without a shadow of doubt, this would have to be God. He is my creator and my inspiration always. The inspiration for this book and for other great things I have achieved in my life goes to Him.

What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?

Thanks to God, I never really had any obstacles in authoring this book. As I stated earlier, the inspiration to write came from God and His Grace continues to be sufficient. The only struggle I experienced was in letting the manuscript go for publishing. I kept on wanting to write more and more until first, my husband and then my publisher said, “you do know that there is such a thing as a sequel?” So, even though there were still thoughts swirling around in my head, I finally let it go. Watch out for a sequel, if the Lord wills.

Who is your target audience, and why?

The book is aimed at people of all ages and gender. People who live in any geographical location and engage in any type of vocation. Regardless of their background, religion, race, etc.

The reason for this is that everyone needs to learn about value. Everyone needs to understand, or if they already do, refresh their minds about the incredible difference it can make to their lives and the lives of other people who they come into contact with. Inevitably, the world will become a better place if we all adopt a lifestyle that incorporates value. Societal ills will be corrected, to a large extent, and there will be less ambiguity and confusion especially for the younger generation who seem to be getting mixed messages about what success is and what is and is not acceptable.

If you were going to give one reason for anyone looking at your book to read, why should they buy it?

If there is still something you are hankering after in life, if, there is any little chance that you are not deeply satisfied with where you are or what you have achieved or even where you seem to be headed, then you will do well to read this book. And even for anyone who believes that they have arrived and they have everything that they need in life and that there is nothing else to aspire to, reading this book will surprise you. And, I can assure you that it will be a pleasant surprise. There is a purpose to life. Every life matters. This book is an eye-opener.

What do you consider your greatest success in life?

I like to think of life as a progressive journey that continues until the last breath is drawn. In saying that, by the special grace of God, I have been able to achieve a lot of things that I have desired. With my family, in career, in my God-given purpose, as well as a whole lot of other things I have not mentioned, I have experienced the blessings of God.

What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?

I would not like to say that there is one thing or another which sets me apart. What I believe is that every writer has their message and a purpose for doing what they do. I can, however, talk about my own message. This is driven by a purpose and a passion to impart the knowledge which I have acquired over time and to impact lives by empowering others. If that message is coming across, and if more people are living more purposeful lives and realizing their dreams than not, then I would say that I am succeeding in my quest.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

That’s an easy one for me, really. I do not write when I am not inspired. I can honestly say that with all my literary efforts, once I am inspired, it is actually difficult to stop writing. Maybe those moments when I am not inspired to write would represent what some people refer to as a writer’s block. Maybe.

What one piece of advice do you have for new authors?

For anyone who wants to embark on writing, or has already started, from my own experience, I would encourage them to establish the reason why they are writing. From the onset, understand what your message is meant to achieve as well as your audience. What impression do you want to leave with them, and how would they be better off by reading what you wrote? Whenever you publish anything, it is no longer about you. It is now about your intended audience and the impact it will have on them. THINK ABOUT YOUR AUDIENCE AND THE DIFFERENCE YOU AIM TO MAKE.

Tell your readers anything else you want to share.

It has been a privilege to be able to write all these years, and for that, I am grateful to God and also appreciate my loyal readers who I am inspired to write for. Life is a precious gift from God. We owe it to ourselves to live it intentionally and to maximize every given opportunity and potential and to make the world a better place than how we met it.

Les Brown said, “The graveyard is the riches place on earth because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.”

Live life in such a way that, not only do you fulfill all your dreams and potential but also, in such a way that someone, somewhere can be positively impacted because you lived.
